Think of a hero—a person who made a profound impact on your life in some way, big or small. Perhaps it would help to close your eyes for a few minutes. Make a list of reasons you look up to that person.
- How did/do you feel around that person?
- Do you equate a physical feature with him or her (aka joy-filled eyes, weathered hands, tall stature)? What does that convey?
- Do you recall a specific conversation between you two that had great meaning in your life?
- What environment do you naturally picture this person in? Why is that significant?
These are just some ideas to get you started. When we think about people we admire and esteem, finding things to write down is not often a problem. If you first formed a list, take those pieces and organize them into a paragraph (or a few). Don't worry about perfecting this. It's a tribute that's meant to move your heart and help you put those feelings onto paper or your screen.
If you'd like to share your piece, feel free to send it to me via the contact page, or post it in a comment on this post. If your hero is still living, perhaps you'd like to share your special words with him or her. Whether you choose to share what you wrote or not, I hope this prompt has been beneficial to you!
